I couldn't tape it until I got it out. It fell during removal. I've got to lift the front of it up so I can grab it with one of my grabber tools. I'll MacGyver something to wedge under it or remove the bellows and grab it from that side. I'll report back!ha ha, funny thing , when i had my motor out and exhaust flappers removed for replacement , i had this thought , i hope nothing falls down there "ill never get it out once the motor is in".
with that thought i taped up the Y pipe so it was sealed , that tape stayed there till the flappers were in place .

That could work. Thank you for the input.i use bits of mig welding wire for all sorts of things , maybe run a couple of feet and bend a hook on the end ? .
The long needle nose pliers idea from the outdrive side should provide enough force to move it. From there I'd grab it with my grabber tool. So yes, push from the bottom then pull from the top. Thanks for the input.Push from the bottom, pull from the top?
