Exhaust Discharge

I have twin '95 175 Johnsons.
Both engines run well, start well, idle well, reach ~5200RPM. VRO's are still in use.
The port engine has a discharge coming out of the exhaust.......see pic below.
Seems to smoke more than the stb motor.........didn't think much of it until I noticed this discharge.
Any reason for concern?20201024_113426.jpg

Maybe one cylinder is not firing.----Maybe a float valve in carburetor not sealing properly ?

if 1 cylinder wasn't firing I don't think I would get full RPM's out of it.
a float valve not sealing would be more of a idle/low RPM issue.....correct?
I plan on doing a compression check after the season.....will have a look at the plugs. I'm guessing the plugs might indicate a non sealing float valve.

Those OMS motors will use more oil if there is an air leak in the gasoline supply to the motor. Check the main strainer O ring and gasket, as well as any other connections in the fuel line that could suck air.

Thanks Chris.........I will give that a check.
What does OMS stand for?

OMS is Oil Metering System. They are sometimes called VRO2, except OMS is a constant 60::1 ratio.

I am pretty sure your motors have that kind of oil pump.
