I have 1979 16' Mirro Craft with a 1979 Evinrude 55 HP and a Power Pilot control box. My problem is when ever I or a family member adjusts the throttle friction screw the control locks up and only shifts into forward and wont go all the back into neutral. I have done this twice and my father has done this once. Everytime it happens I just take the box apart and put it back together and it works fine after. If I tighten the throttle friction when the box is apart it doesn't lock up. It also doesnt matter how tight or loose the throttle friction screw is when I put it back together, as soon as the friction screw is moved the box locks up again. The boat is new to me so I dont know if it will be fine aslong as nobody touches the friction screw or if i'll be driving along and it will happen. If anybody has any ideas on whats going on please let me know!
I would also like to add that when I take it apart it doesnt look like anything is binding or loose and there seems to be plenty of grease.
