evinrude jerking at idle

i have a 1975 25hp evinrude runs great on throttle but at idle it wants to jerk a little and dies some anyone know what might cause this thanks

That is called a lean sneeze. Fuel is igniting in the crankcase because there is too much air/not enough gas. Give the slow speed knob on the carburetor a tweak to the counterclockwise direction to give it some more gas.
