Hi.

I have an Evinrude 60 -1996 which charges 17 volts on the voltmeter. This happened suddenly, it charged around 14 volts and after a while of driving at almost full throttle it showed 17 volts. Now it charges 17 volts all the time at all rpm?s. I disconnected the rectifier cause i thought i would damage the electronics in the boat. I check the battery and it gives 12.7 volts. May it be the rectifier that is damaged? The rectifier has part nr: 585001

Happy for answer.

Re: Evinrude charging question.

You have rectifier/ regulator. It sounds as though it is now no longer regulating the voltage. Check all the connections first but other wise I reckon you will be replacing it. Sierra part is 18-5827
