Evinrude 60hp won't accelerate much in gear

Model # 60073B I changed the plugs and new gas/oil. Seems like the top cylinder isn’t working. It is getting fire, but when I pull the plug wire for that cylinder I don’t hear any difference. It starts and sounds good out of water but won’t do squat in the water as far as acceleration / power.

One way to tell if it is not getting gas is to take some premix... and spray it in the throat of the carb. If it starts to fire or run better you most likely have a fuel prob... What do the plugs look like after it has ran? Have you tested spark? Just because they have spark does not mean it is powerful enough. Do a search on spark tester or buy on from your auto parts store<br /><br />If it is a fuel issue then try rebuilding the carbs. Would'nt take um off, clean um out and put them back on. The kits are cheap enough it's worth the time and effort to do it all at once. In my case I found I pulled the carbs to rebuild 1 week after cleaning. Learn from my mistakes...not your own <br /><br />Got a manual? They help out bunches and is needed to do any work yourself.

The plug in the top cyclinder was clean, the other two looked like they were burning alittle rich. The top one looked almost dry. I pulled off the cover over the intake and the Adjuster for Rich and Lean Idle was unhooked from the top carb. I started the engine and tried to adjust them the best I could. I won't be able to tell until I put it back in the water though. Is there any way to test out out of water? I tried a 50 gallon drum, but it is kind of small... Where can I find manuals, any Ideas. Thanks..
