Evinrude 50HP bogging when under high RPM Load

My VRO Evinrude 50 runs fine at idle and will put along just fine, but as soon as I try to open it up and get on plane, it will either rev up then bog down, or it will only run at about 40% or less. I've tried pumping the fuel bulb, but that doesn't help. If I push in the ignition key, it runs up to full power. When I let the key go, it will slowly loses power again. Sometimes it will completely die after trying to get it to run at high speeds and will not start for several minutes. This motor was running fine and this problem started on my last outing. Since then, I've replaced all the fuel lines in the engine, but it's still doing the same.

It could be as simple as crud in the fuel bowl(carburetor) plugging up the main jet.

It could also be timing.

Check all sparks plugs for color and consistency.

Thanks for the tip. I took the carbs apart and cleaned out all the jets. (Very informative :) ) I also had my water pump crap out on me while troubleshooting, so I replaced that. I really got into the "guts" of the motor and I feel alot more confident about it. I ended up finding a bad spark plug wire which seems to be the culprit. Once I changed it out the engine runs better than it ever has. :D
