I have a 1987 evinrude 40 hp it idles rough but runs great as you throttle up can antone help me out with this?

Has it always done this or did it just start?
Start with some basic checks, compression and spark, and then check fuel delivery.

there are no adjustments on you carbs. i suggest checking compression, timing, link n sinc. probably cleaning and reassembling carbs with rebuild kits.
