Evenrude 48hp SPL questions?

I have a early '90's Evenrude 48hp SPL. I bought it w/ a boat 3 years ago, ran it 3 seasons out of the year untill this winter. It won't start now. It turns over, getting spark, and has fresh fuel. Put the "muffs" on it, water pump works fine. When i bought it, I replaced the gas tank and fuel line w/ bulb. I have been running it 100/1 mix, as the pervious owner did. The sticker on the side of the engine next to where the fuel line plugs in says 100/1. I've heard I should be running 50/1 mix. When it was running, it took 5-15min of cranking for it to fire, then I would have to play with the idle untill it warmed up. When it was running half to open throttle, it sounded like it was missing every few strokes, and would shake a bit.
What do I need to check/ fix to get it running again?
Thank you for your help, I'm trying to get it fixed by this weekend so I can fish a tourny.

Re: Evenrude 48hp SPL questions?

remove the 100:1 sticker, recalled years ago, use 50:1 fuel:eek:il TC-W3 outboard oil. sounds as if it is time for a carb cleaning and rebuild kits.

should have started earlier. unless you do it yourself, you may get into a shop in a week or two.

it sounds like your carbs are dirty, classic symptom from sitting, dissassemble them, soak in a cleaner which you can buy at a auto store,be sure you dont soak any rubber gaskets or parts, after the soaking ,you can give a good soapy water wash, then clean water, blow dry with compressed air,if air is not avail, get a can of parts cleaner in a spray can,and blow it thru all passages,DO NOT just use the spray to clean, its not strong enough.
