EVA Teak Deck Pads

Good evening, everyone.

I have a Monterey 224 that does not have the optional faux teak pads over the swim platform and deck. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket pads? SeaDek seems to be a name brand, but they sell large pads that need to be cut to the appropriate size. I found a pre-cut option on eBay that looks like a great option, but I’m uncertain of quality.

Does anyone have experience with these and how they hold up over time? I’m usually leery of cheap imported stuff on eBay, but it looks identical. What do you guys think?

No experience with your link.

I do have experience with Sea Dek. They do sell a templating kit. It's mylar sheets that you cut and mark up to your specs. Send it off and they'll import it into their CAD system and custom cut once you approve the CAD file. It ain't cheap but I've done it and the results were excellent.

Thanks, I will have to take a look at that. I’ve briefly thought about ordering a couple of sheets and cutting them myself, but I don’t think I could make it look very good.

Tape the sheets down well and take your time. If you can make a paper airplane, chances are very good you can make a template of your deck and swim platform.

The more effort you put in to making the template, the better the results will be....and the less back & forth you'll have to do when approving the CAD files. Mine were close enough that only someone with a tape measure would really find the differences between sides.

Make sure to mark them - Sea Dek provides directions on what they want and how they want it.

**Not a Sea Dek rep. I tried though. Was told that living near Buffalo NY that I couldn't be a rep as they had a rep close by....in Albany...which is over 8 hrs away. Geography isn't their strong suit.

I have experience with both, the ebay stuff and Seadek. The ebay stuff isn`t bad for the price. For $100 I got a large sheet, more than needed, that I cut myself from my own templates. It held up well but my wife liked the finished look of the Seadek on friends boats better and so I ordered a precut mat set from them for my swim platform. It was about four time the cost but it looks better.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I might take a chance with the kit from the eBay seller because it’s already pre-cut for the boat. I don’t think I have the attention to detail to do a decent job with SeaDek templates, and I’d rather not sink a ton of money into it.
