Hi I bought a 5hp eska 2 sroke.motor for my canoe I'm the ponds. Anyone know how to get the chole nob off I need it of to access carb it has a silver ring on it on the end. Here is a photo along with my serial number for reference . Don't want to damage and need in there. Thank you also any direction on what to do to an engine that apparently ran good 2 years ago when last used. I've pulled ut over alot. but haven't got access yet to do anything else really. Doesn't sound like units even trying but compression seems good

Maybe it unscrews? The choke knob has a lock washer between the plastic knob and the brass shaft.

Gee, the last Eska I had was the middle 70's. It was a 5 HP single cylinder. Other than being a 2 cycle engine, it was very much like a lawnmower. So clean the points and sand/file them square, and test for spark. If no spark and the coil looks OK, replace the condenser. Not sure where to get parts, maybe a lawnmower shop, if those exist anymore.

On a "colorful note", the fuel pump was a small balloon under the carb flange in the crankcase. The pulse of the crankcase made it inflate and deflate, thus pumping fuel to the carb.
