Enrichment Valve

1993 Mercury 40 hp enrichment valve. Valve is good, how do I trace voltage to connector? Valve do not work when I press key switch.

Hook voltmeter black lead to ground and put the red lead on the yellow/black wire. It should read something approaching 12 volts when you push the key.
