Yes, a Volvo 260 is a 5.7 engine GM engine, and Mercruiser also uses a 5.7 and it is also a GM engine. But Volvo and Mercruiser are competing companies. If you have a Mercruiser outdrive and transom shield, and a Volvo engine, then some engine out of a volvo and adapted it to fit the Merc drive. A big mix of parts. Aka, Junkyard Dog.
Doesn't mean it doesn't work, it will just be a chore at times to figure out what part is Volvo, what part is Mercruiser, and what parts may be homemade.
