Hi, new to the forum, have lurked a bit and everyone seems super helpful.

I have a Campion w/ a Mercruiser Alpha one GEN II 4.3L, looks like I didn't winterize it properly last year and when it was in the water this year, there was a leak, when running, from the lower right rear (when facing the engine from the cockpit) ... I am trying to find out what it could be so I can look up possible how to's but I am not sure what to search on - I am hoping for ideas... I am hoping that I can get it repaired over the winter so next summer is spent on the water....

thx in advance!

Welcome
lower right rear (when facing the engine from the cockpit)
That's port side rear

Which 4.3 do you have, serial numbers are best?
We at least need year, is at carb, EFI, MPI, closed or raw water cooled

if you didnt winterize properly, buy a new motor. motors do not survive freezing

You will have to get under there and see where the leak is coming from. If you are lucky a core plug pushed out or if block is cracked it isn’t pushing water into the oil . Is your oil milky ? If it is the block is roached

Leaks can be tough to find. Use your phone to take a video of the port side down low if you can do it safely. Is the engine winterized now? If so, you'd be waiting until spring time to diagnose and fix.

I agree with the other posts . . . if the damage was from freezing, you should be concerned about internal damage. Are you getting any water in the motor oil?

Thx for the replies - I will have to check the oil - it is a 1999 Campion so I assume the motor is also a 1999. As for serial #, after Christmas break I will get out and check oil, get Serial # etc...
