Engine swap

I have a 1984 mercruser with a blown block (305) I also have a few later blocks (newer than 1986). What I was wondering is if you can swap these in. In any way because of the change in the rear oil seal or if it would be easier to get a older engine with the two piece oil seal.

you can swap, however you need a different flywheel (1-piece vs 2-piece)
