Engine stalls when accelerating in forward

Going to look at one for sale, it's a Four Winns with 5.0 Volvo sterndrive. Seller says engine idles fine in reverse, neutral, and forward, but when accelerating, engine dies.

If it's carbureted, most likely the carb needs work and the accelerator pump circuit is plugged

However without trouble shooting, it's only a guess

Start with a compression test

See if you see two fuel streams when applying throttle

Thank you Scott, will check accel pump. Was also thinking float level in carb or fuel pickup screen inside tank

Wouldn't be float level. And pickup screen is only a remote chance

Start with compression test, check everything
