I had a 1979 Scorpion 210 and now have a Searay 220 . Both have 5.7 engines but the Searay is 1000 lbs heavier. The scorpion was agile and quick, the Searay is a slug in comparison but it's a damn comfortable ride and still has a good top end.

Wonder if that came after the water in the pan
I think it spun the rod on the water, an they let it sit an didn’t winterize it, he said it went to knocking on the water an they took it to a mechanic, mechanic said bent crank. I was like 🧐 it’s not a lawn mower. …. How u bend a crank on a V engine … so I posted on here wondering if that’s a boat thing. I’ve heard of a bent crank on a lawn mower but a car or truck never, I work at Cadillac an everyone laughed also.

That pic is of the bearing on the crank, I popped the cap off a the bearing stayed, all the rest cam off with caps. Non really looked good tho…

For a bearing to spin like that, that means there was no oil to the crank and she got hot enough to melt the bearing enough to grab the crank

Water in oil will do that

Last pic , or second cap has a bearing in it. All the caps look good besides the one that spun

no 4.3 Is great for what it is. Fits the size of boat great, but get the torque of a V8 , you wont even recall the numbers 4 & 3 ..
So scared my boats gonna sit low if I do. This is it with the v6

Put 3 cases of beer on the back. That is how much lower the motor will sit with an iron headed 5.7 with iron manifolds than your 4.3

Ayuh,.... How much do you weigh,..?? How did the boat sit, when you were on/ around the 4.3l,..??

A V8 is maybe 150 lbs heavier,.....

I once decided my ole '67 Glastron Jet-flite would hold a 135 hp tower of power, by sittin' on the hood of the I4 80 hp in the water, 'n it didn't start sinkin',....
It turned out to be a Wild adrenalin rush of a Rocket, back in my younger crazy days,..... ;)

Lol im 270lbs it don’t sit bad wit me an a buddy in it leans to my side for sure, only has 4 seats, I was a lil nervous when I romped it cuz it stood up so much at first an will really sit low then. I think it only came out with a 4cyl an weighed 2200lbs empty. when it stands up I can’t see nothing in front I had to turn side to side to see till it leveled, with these gears an more people it was tough

So I found an older 350 probly 4 bolt main it’s in a boat now which is nice cause il need the manifolds an stuff, but distributor looks like an hei for a truck doesn’t look like it has any of the mercury harness. Don’t really wanna use any non marine parts. I understand why they did, hei is as easy as It gets to make run. The way the engine tucks in tho I’d have to pull the engine out to change the distributor later. Where’s a good place to find parts ? Id wanna redo all the gaskets.

with HEI dizzys you can usually take the cap off and the dizzy is a good bit shorter.
V8s freeze too make sure you inspect well to avoid spending more later.
