1989 mercrusier 4.3 alpha 1....Is it possible to pull the engine with the stern drive in place & if so, is that a good way to also put the engine back in, using the drive shaft to align the engine?
no, the drive has to come off first. And you need an alignment bar to realign the engine after you reinstall it. Just because the drive shaft is in the coupler does not mean it's aligned.
Thanx Guys.....Just wasn't sure. I've had the drive off many times for other various reasons. So I I agree......it will probably be the easiest part.....Thanx again.......Shep
