engine ID help

Hi I have a 1987 Seville 19' BR after being on the forums and reading it looks like I have a 3.7, when I bought the boat they told me it was a 3.0.. what do I really have it says 165 on the VC and has a closed cooling system

Is there a Mercury tag on the block with a serial number?

Commonly called a "470"w/ 2bbl carb or "488" w/ a 4bbl carb.
A inline 3.7 FWC Mercruiser "Creation". NLA on some parts.

well I checked all the #'s today and really looked at everything I have a 3.7 liter, that is ok cause it runs great and i am happy
