Engine cuts out

Morning All
I have a 5.7 Lt Mercury Mercruiser and Alpha one Leg. had the Leg replace (New one) I'm live in the Solomon Islands and getting work done on the Boat is hard here . So when I had the Leg replaced All good till I did the test .
When I put in in reverse the motor cuts out and the marine Mac's that did the work for me do not know how to fix it hope you can help. Would it be the cable/ interrupter ??? :facepalm:

Is this an Alpha I or an Alpha I Gen II? Makes a big difference? Serial number or maybe even a year of your boat might work.

It's a Alpha I Gen II I have replace it with a after market one SE116
