They are/ were manufactured. You will need the motor, bracket and flywheel just to even attempt to make it work. You need a lot more than that to make it work factory like, but that can get it spinning over for you.. Keep in mind you need to find the electric start model similar to your motor and compare the IPL's to obtain the parts

Will surely need a Rectifier for the 12 V battery, a fuse wire and fuse along a min + 40 Amp 12 volt battery. It's a costly conversion which I wouldn't dare going for, not even in dreams. LOL!!

What's the price difference between an Hitachi electric starter motor and a OEM one whichever brand manufactures it for Tohatsu ?

a think there is at least 50% higher price. take look at cost of tohatsu and mercury parts cost at example 4 hp 4stroke motor. and i dont think tohatsu is making all parts used in outboards by itself, etc. carbs, el.start motors, props and so on

No outboard manufacturer fabricates 100% of the parts needed for their own motors to work, other parts such as coils, CDI, etc are manufactured by third parties, but usually only available through each OB manufacturer. Who said boating was a cheap water sport....
