electric shift oil

I have a 1963 Evinrude 40 with electric shift which I'm trying to get running. What is the correct gear lube to use?

Type C ONLY...don't care where ya find it. It will say for Electric shift motors.

I just found out this weekend that you can use automatic transmission fluid, any type. I talked to the Boat Doctor here in Northern California. He says that type C is just 5 wt. oil. Hope that helps.
