To all of you that have replied to this thread I say thank you. It’s coming together but not done yet. I really appreciate all of the advice given to me by ya’ll. Let’s hope I’m correct and that the issue was the bad starter and battery.

If you expect your boat to be reliable, you don't cut corners. Batteries need to be checked and maintained regularly. Wiring needs maintenence with regular checking of connections to be sure they are clean and connections are tight. Some folks get a boat and only use it once or twice thru a season, which is not healthy for a boat. Boats with regular use have fewer issues.
