New to the board, I had my 1989 Johnson 150 power head changed to a Johnson 155c. My mechanic is working out some issues we have with bogging and not coming up to rpm's/plane very good. When we switched to this power head he un-hooked the VRO oil pump since that is what cost my 150hp to seize up, He questioned why I have a external fuel pump on this motor and I don't have a answer for that. When I purchased this boat 8 years ago from a friend of mine. He bought it brand new from a guy named Fred Ward which was a tournament fishermen and this was his boat that he built with the fuel pump. My question is, is it really needed. The way it was wired, it only was for the front tank. When you switched to the back tank it was by passed the pump. There is no primer bulb either. I never really had any issues with this setup before with 150hp power head.
