Re: Ebay
I do sell a lot on Ebay, I started using it since 1996 when they were just a small computer and 2 people, called at that time AuctionWeb.
The most important thing is to represent what you are selling correctly.
I have almost 1300 feedbacks in 7 years, almost 300 from repeat customers, 10 negatives which result from buyers not paying attention to description and bidding at last second thinking "to beat everybody" and get the good deal. I sold some motors, and I don't like to do it much anymore, they bring too much money if they are "unknown" and people gets carried away with them and cries later, even if specified as "unknown" conditions (which I really mean and state reason for it). My worst nightmare was a '70s Mercury 10hp which was sold without being tested, I started auction at $ 100 with buy it now at $ 150. Bids started to fall in like crazy, I added a note that motor was UNTESTED-BEWARE, motor sold for $ 450.00, customer was complaining it had problems with coils and stator.

It's an online auction, and like all auctions everything is sold as is, very important is to realize there is no visual inspection, so you have to rely to seller description.

On the other side, just like everything else, few bad apples will spoil the whole tree. You hear about BAD things, but very seldom about good ones.

If you mention bad sellers, I can tell you about bad buyers (many), I do have a long list, but I don't complaint, I know few will always be there, but mostly people is honest.
In 7 years of buy/sell on it, I NEVER, EVER got ripped off (and never ever ripped off people too), I just pay attention.

Take your time, shop around, check prices, and most important ask questions, any seller with good intentions will be willing to go extra mile to get customer happy, especially ones that have a business selling, they want customers happy.

Val
