Re: Earthquake!!!

Glad to hear that so far not much in the way of injuries reported. Apparently they were feeling the shake over on the east side of TN even.

Earthquakes to the east, Hurricanes to the south ...

Lived in NY nearly 50 yrs and today was the first earthquake I felt roll under my feet. Ironically I was giving a lecture on stability.

Re: Earthquake!!!

Nice of all the Cali folks to make fun of the east coast folks, many of whom have never been in an Earthquake. Not just hear but on every forum I'm on.
It is NOT nothing, it is the biggest on record for this part of the country, and stuff isn't built to quake standards.

But yeah, Cali people are cool ;)

Where is Cali? Never heard of it. If you mean California then sorry, out here we usually don't have to abreviate to 4 letter words that our kids and cousins can understand.

Anyway, a 5 or 6 quake is a good shaker for sure and will scare the heck out of anybody, cali or otherwise. You can't run and you can't hide from a quake and you don't know it's comming. I don't like them and have been through plenty of them but they're rare enough that I don't see a good reason to leave all the other benfits (like a fat paycheck) I get from living here.

Earthquake, what earthquake? LOL....I work testing military jet engines, so we feel vibration all the time whenever we go into full AB. Control room is always dark as well, so when we come out at the end of the day, we see the weather for the first time. It could be doing whatever outside and we'd never know!

Re: Earthquake!!!

Just back from Milwaukee, and yes, we felt it there.

Felt 2 others in the Milwaukee area when I lived down there, they were centered in KY or TN.

Yeah, TN's day is coming. Over the last several months the "little" quakes have been increasing.

. Oh, I am an apathetic California native who suggests that this is run of the mill for us . . . :p

Thinking the same thing. Out west a 5.9 just puts a hop in your step.

Just goes to say that since the beginning of time the earth has been and always will be a dynamic process......but I'm waiting for someone to blame it on fracking!

Re: Earthquake!!!

It was kind of funny here in central PA ... we had about 40 kids at the church at the time and my pager was going off for house inspections, calls coming in, "Did you feel it? Are the kids okay?" And I am thinking, "what are they talking about? 1/2 mile to the south there was dishes and nic-nacks that fell off shelves. 1/2 mile to the north, same thing. But none of the 40 kids and 12 adults that were around the grounds felt a thing. Go figure. Kind of bums me out ... walking on the San Andreas fault last week, and felt nothing. Tremors all around this week ... still nothing. Guess I am just not the quaking kind of guy!:facepalm:

This one was felt here in Canada. My wife and daughter said it rattled the plates in the china cabinet. I didn't feel it as I was working at a site with loaded dump trucks rolling by every minute.

Re: Earthquake!!!

Had a 3.6 here in Northern Ca. last night. Kind of normal but weird that we're having these quakes all in the same time frame. Makes you wonder about Yellowstone.
