early 70 6 hp slipping at top speed

I have an early 70 6 hp that seems to have some sort of slip in the drive after about half throttle. It will idle along fine though. Got me to the far end of the lake of course with no problem. Could I have maybe got some fishline caught in it or something?

sounds like a spun prop hub....a common issue

if you have a spare prop swap em & test the boat again....

if no spare .....remove the prop & scribe a mark on the prop and the hub ...put the boat in the water run it till it slips again ....remove your prop and see if your scribe marks still line up...if they dont line up , & I doubt they will .....replace your prop
