Eagle sand paper for gelcoat

I just purchased a dark green 2007 cobalt boat with some mild oxidation in the gelcoat. My friend plan is to use eagle 1500 dry paper followed with stark R compound, rotary wool pad. Question is- eagle has about 8 different types of 5” disc paper options for 1500 grit, none seam to mention gel coat. Anyone have any experience or recommendations on sand paper 1500 grit 5” dry sand? Thanks

You may have to start at 400 and work up

I normally only go up to 800, then hit with aquabuff 1000, then Aquabuff 2000

My buddy thinks the oxidation would come out with just a heavy compound, but I am going to ceramic coat it, so this the light sand step before the compound. Any idea what of the various eagle papers work best on gelcoat?
