What an idiot!

The key will be the court case, when this idiot's plans go awry, and his unmanned boat kills someone. Another stake, in the heart, of private boat ownership.

I see this type of behavior, everytime I go to a local Arizona lake. "Me first" is the general idea.

2011 x80 Master Craft can go as high as $140,000.00 The used ones,even 2006 models can sell for $70,000.00. These boats are top knotch for what they are designed for. Awesome boats. They may not be worth that much, but that's what they sell for......went to the boat show last January and the boat show sale price was $99,900....marked down from $120,000....there was a sold sign on it.

depends on your value of 'worth' i guess... As someone else mentioned, fully speced out that boat goes for $140k. Bare bones puts it a little over $100,000. They tend to hold their value very well also.

Doesn't look like that big of a deal. Smooth water, no one else in sight, he was going slow enough to wakesurf, if he'd fell I'd guess that the boat or jet-ski that was filming it would have just pulled up alongside and put someone on board.

Typical stupid kid stunt, but no where near the worst I've seen.

Now the truck one, that was just plain stupid!!

I'm with you on that... Typical stupid stunt, but in the grand scheme of things, not that bad at all. The guy filming on the jet ski could easily have gotten to the side of the boat to shut it down, IF the wakesurfer fell or didn't see oncoming traffic. (from the looks of the lake, their was a PWC behind them, and zero traffic in front.)

I've got a pic of myself driving a boat. So that isn't unusual. The only difference is that I wasn't in the boat at the time, and I had some skis under my feet... (of course, had a buddy laying down on the floor.) At no time was anyone in any danger that doesn't normally exist with waterskiing.

The people involved in that stunt have little regard for others, that is plain to see. That is typical of most "Jackass" or thrill seeking stunts. When those stunts do go bad then a lot of EMS and other public safety employees that have to respond are then not available to the public that they serve because of the selfish thrill seeking, uh, morons.

Wonder what those moronish people would think if any loved members of their family were in true accidents but had to wait for response because the rescue people were out on one of those "Jackass" calls.

I am having problems seeing any defense on this one.

There is no "easy" about hopping onto a boat from a jetski. Then the jetski is unmanned, might come around and clobber the idiot that fell down before it lost momentum. And more than likely the jetski AND the boat would be unmanned when the jetski hero failed and fell into the drink. Even if there was a lurker in the head or whereever, a lot can happen during the time it takes to realize something is wrong, then crawl out and respond when the dumb move rapidly esclates into full-on emergency.

You show your complete lack of any knowledge of skiing. There isn't one of you idiots that understands that you can't fall forward into a boat going 15mph. Much less that the prop is 5 ft forward of the dive platform. We have been skiing next to the boat for 20 years.

Before you start calling us idiots, you might want to at least watch the video. Not one post in this thread asserts the danger of falling into the swim platform as a reason for calling it stupid ....however it is possible, because you can accelerate the surfboard towards the boat. If you couldn't accelerate towards the boat this insanely irresponsible stunt, wouldn't be possible. Therefore, you CAN fall into the swim platform of a boat going 15 mph, because you can surf the board onto said platform. Now...it would be impossible to fall into the prop, but again, not one post says anything about that scenario.

What makes this stupid...is that....HE'S SURFING BEHIND A BOAT WITH NO ONE IN IT.....:facepalm:....BTW this has nothing to do with barefooting

I think alot of you are assuming this was a unsafe trick because you assume that preparations weren't made to stop the boat if the trick failed. No one here knows for a fact what the conditions were, they could have very easily had someone hidden on board, 4 safety jet-skis, radios, cut off lanyard, and an area cleared of any oncoming objects like other boats, for there little show. Also, don't forget , it is pretty easy to wire in a wireless controller to boats.

Think it was a cool trick for those that like that kind of thing. My dare devil days are over as far as skiing goes, but I can remember some pretty stupid stuff we did as kids, like jumping other boats while they were moving!!

Just think alot of people jump the gun calling people stupid, when they don't have the facts first.

What I pointed out above is all hypothetical, but so are alot of the posts saying this is dangerous. Again, no one here knows what safety precautions were taken! .02

2010 Mastercraft X80 with fat sacs. Set it and forget it! When you have the right boat and a calm, clear lake, you don't need anything else.

Sort of reminds of the incident several years ago where a couple of tourists rented a motor home and the driver put the cruise control on and went back and made a sandwich. No folks even if this was well prepped and done as a publicity stunt it is still irresponsible just like automotive commercials that show cars doing well in excess of the speed limit. Sooner or later someone is going to try it and not be well prepared and the result could be someones death. At the very least a lot of costly boat damage.
