Installing a new transponder but not sure about plugging the old cable hole in the transom and drilling a new one or just using the existing hole. The transducer was mounted to the right of the prop but I have a left hand rotation prop. Because it's on the right, fishfinder shows telephone poles sticking up from the bottom of the lake when travelling at high speed.

Don't like the idea of the transducer mounted on the wrong side but dislike pluging the 3/8" diameter hole in the transom and am even more disliking the idea of drilling yet another hole on the other side.

Opinions? Pros? Cons?

Epoxy a plug of 3/8" dowel in the old hole and seal it with gelcoat. Drill a new hole on the other side.

Was going to use Marine-Tex but didn't know what to use as a main filler. Thanks for the suggestion.

For something that size, I like JB's method of epoxying a dowel plug in place first, then cover it up. Fix it once, fix it right.
