My skeg doesn't reach the ground so I've never dragged it!... out of the water that is.

Kind of an opended-ended question..do you mean at all? an inch or a mile or just up the ramp a ways? Or in the water? In the water could just mean pulling up to a beach and didn't get the outdrive up quite fast enough so it drug 1/2" deep in the sand and you couldn't even feel it. Sorry if I sound like I'm reading too much into this lol..im just bored

Well, yes. I have not hit any cement with mine, but like I said, I did find a few sand bars in Cass lake, buried the whole skeg in that bar. More then once. Technically, it was 3 or 4 different bars in that lake, not just the same one multiple times!

Boated my whole life, never dragged it. Always remembered to trim up first.

yup...about 2 feet up the boat ramp with my old boat....lifted the back of the boat up until it dropped into one of the traction slots.....haven't done it since and thank goodness it was just bent a little. never on my newer boat but it looks like the PO did.

Yup. Guilty as charged. Was retrieving my boat by myself, and totaly spaced raising the outdrive before I pulled the boat out of the water. There was a small lip on the ramp and when the suspension compressed I heard a thud. Thankfully no damage but man did my heart sink.

Re: Drag the Skeg

After I put my new ETEC on the boat my dad decided to do a float test at the ramp to make sure the bolts didn't leak. Technology is not his thing and he didn't grasp the whole power trim and tilt concept. He also has hearing problems so he didn't hear the scraping sound as he dragged my brand new skep up the ramp on her very first trip to the lake. It also bent over one blade on my brand new prop. I still get a little teary eyed when I think about it.

First time ever, was our last time out. My fault. New lake, low water, out of my routine. left engine halfway down. No damage done, except to my ego.

Re: Drag the Skeg

Three times in the 1st few months I owned my boat. Now I trim up before pulling up to the courtesy dock and haven't bounced my drive on the ramp we use since. Took a little filing and repainted the skeg to make it look like nothing ever happened.
