Always fire up and idle for a couple of minutes while doing the final checks before leaving.

i always let it warm up its my understanding that its best to let the pistons
and block get warm .besides it runs best at proper temp
i usually start up stay off idle while i load or move my truck
when my temp gauge hits 145 im gone doesnt take long

I have one that prefers a few minutes of high idle at the dock.
I have about ten minutes of no wake zone, everything is warmed up by then.
