Do pool noodles squeak like pink insulation?

I've got one spot where I can't easily use the pink insulation under my starboard gunwale because of the cables & wires etc. I want to stuff some pool noodles in, but do they squeak when they rub together?

I have an idea to quiet them if they do, but want to know before I get started.

My theory is you can never have enough flotation.

Pool noodles and pink foam won't squeak if you'll rub them down good with bacon fat before installation!

Seriously though, noodles shouldn't squeak because they have a textured surface instead of the smooth/slick surface of the EPS.

I filled my hull with Blue and Pink foamboard insulation and I haven't heard it squeak yet...although my wife packed them in there so that they were about 1/8" to 1/4" above the deck line. That gave it a little compression when I laid the deck down.

My Lone Star has them under the floor too, I took the time to cut several of them to fill every void there was. Folks at the dollar store were curious why I grabbed every single one they had, but at $1.99 each, it was a no brainer. I ended up hitting more than one store to get enough for my job, but it's done. And mine are jammed in tight so they shouldnt squeak.

Thanks for the info. I went out to a couple dollar stores and didn't find any. My grocery store has them for something like $4.57 each

My foam under the floor squeaked like crazy until I put down a layer of 4 mil plastic on top of it.

It really needed a cat when I first got it, lots of mice! I was pleased to see no evidence of any this spring!

$1.99 at the Dollar Store?? I thought everything is supposed to be $1? ...at least that is what I paid for mine in CA.

I am actually surprised at how many items they can sell for only $1. I wish West Marine could do that.

I didn't question the cashier, they were still well below the price at Wal-Mart or any other place I can think of that may sell them. I just pulled out the phone book and started dialing, I grabbed mine towards the end of the summer last year. Many stores were out of them and most were not in locations that I would usually drive by.

I have them under the floor of my Mariner and they don't squeak. I was able to get mine at Rite Aid for a dollar a piece. Cashier looked at me funny when I walked up to the counter with the only two boxes of them that they had in the store.

Score! Thanks for the tip, BoldCoast. Went to Rite Aid and bought a dozen for $1 ea., which was half their stock. This is just supplemental flotation, you see.

The ones you got at Rite Aid that are supplemental flotation .......... were they near the vitamin supplements?

I stuffed most of them up under the gunwales and I'm using my leftover pink insulation to make another big chunk that fits up under the bow..

Just a FYI

Astro-Valcour (Glens Falls, NY) makes the pool noodles AND also makes 2" or 3" thick sheets of the foam. Marketed as Poly Plank Ultra
