I actually do know a little bit about the mechanics of a tranmission . However I think we are missing the point here that if you are using the Tow/Haul mode then it prevents the slippage and also keeps the tranmission from cooking itself.

The exact features od the Tow Haul mode are these:

"Yes it allows OD but not until higher speeds. It also raises all of the shift points, shift pressures, and keeps the converter unlocked longer."

IF you are running with Tow/Haul mode on and the transmission then starts to hunt for a gear, then you have the option of going to 3rd, or using the overdrive lock out method which is a combination of holding the O/D button down.

Clear as mud in the manual.....

In addition it also slows the engine down and downshifts so as to limit the wear on the brakes.

We are NOT debating about older vehicles here, he asked about a 2003.

Hazmat,

I wasn't aware what all the tow/haul actually did. I agree and thanks for the info! I didn't know it raised the line pressure.
