do controls match up?

I have a 92 tracker pontoon with a 40hp evinrude. will a 50hp johnson 2001 fit with the controls?

the year of the boat doesnt realy help unless you know the motor is the same year. generaly speaking if the plugs are the same color then it should work

the wiring from the boat is plugged into the motor wiring under the cowl if the plugs are the same it should be a easy swap
