Yeah man, that Merc looks great!

I put the casters with brakes on my stand. I also added an anti-tipover device by way of a side to side 2x4 about halfway that extends far enough so that the stand can't tip over to the side. Also lots of reinforcement added.

I like the design, especially being able to fit a barrel in there.

One suggestion: use glue and at least 5/16" carriage bolts where you can. I've seen too many deck screws sheer off when stressed.

I have been wanting to make one of those for some time.
I decided to downsize your measurements slightly so that I can mount it atop of
a HF hardwood mover's dolly with 18" x 30" measurements. The dolly is rated for
1,000 lbs. and I intend to use the stand for 20hp or less motors.

Thanks for the great design and incentive.

Hi, I just used your plans on this post to build a boat motor stand for my Dad. Came out great. Thanks .I attached a picture .Found your plans after googling it on searched images. Glenn

Just wanted to thank tpenfield ....I used your baseline design and just made a few other modifications to suit my specific needs. Casters are coming in the mail, but appreciate the very useful guide!
