Not everyone who supports the war on terror agrees with everything the pres does...people who are opposed with fighting for our freedom are traitors plane and simple.

No one is disputing their right to free speech. Similarly, my right to free speech, as in not spending my money on their product, is Golden as well!

I thought we were over in Iraq fighting for their freedom oj. Aren't we already a free country? You know..free to voice opinions and such? Kinda like we're doing here...right now?

I could not agree more. However, SOME seem to get more "authority" because of there celebrity.

That is NOT the way it is supposed to be.

But, we're now a "media" nation led to the cliff, like lemmings, doting on every word the TV tells us. It's BS.

oj,
The war for "Iraqi Freedom" at its commencement, was more to do with fighting for the freedoms of the Iraqis people than that of ours, a worthy cause no less, though some may disagree with the prerequisites of the Bush administration to pursue this endeavor, verbal opposition in the appropriate forums is not in itself the required level to accuse one of treason.

Opposition to the war on terror in Afganistan is nil, that is the war in which we are fighting for our freedoms, Afganistan is where the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 got their orders from.
Any American citizen who aid and provide information to the detriment of our country and its people are in without doubt a traitor.

Darth,

We also have too many unethical and selfish citizens. That is the core issue. Politicians reflect society, as a whole.

Nobody is responsible anymore.

We are a nation of laws, not justice. BIG difference.

All these liberals with their hypocrisy and entitlement mindset supporting the Dixie Twits. The Twits can say they don't like what the president is doing, but the minute you say you don't like what the Twits are doing, the liberals call foul. The poor Twits, they're just innocent communists entitled to their record sales....

I agree with DJ on this one. Laws without the wisdom to administer them is totalitarinism. There is a sad lack of justice when a child can be removed from a home because the parents spanked them but a cocaine or crack baby is put with it's mother. I apologize for changing the thread. What I started out to say is the DCs are entitled to say whatever they want. I'm entitled not to spend my money on their CDs. It is sad that when a person gets some fame that people look to them to be experts! Most of them don't live in the real world anyhow.

I admit it was a blatant troll, no question.

I admit to being amazed by the reaction they get. Who cares what they think? Music is music. If you like it, buy it. If not, don't.

The difference between Toby Keith And the DC's is his views are part of his music--the DC's are not.

But the same rule applys.

I do find it ironic how so many feel victimized by media, celebrity, and who knows what all, and in the same breath complain that we are becoming a nation of victims

PW2, You're NOT getting away with that pot-shot.

You are an authority on what the DC's think? Please advise.

I think the DC's "views" are more than evident. How they express it is their business, just like Keith's.

We have a choice as to whether to listen-OR NOT.

Actually, in both their cases, my choice is-NOT.

Re: Dixie Chicks

This is funny. I can't believe some of you folks are loosing sleep over this. Are you serious about boycotting the Chicks? They are millionaires I bet. Won't put a dent in their wallet. Are you doing is prevent them from paying millions of dollars in taxes. Taxes we surely need with the current deficit shooting for the sky.

OK so where do we draw the line. Boycott tax paying American citizens for saying something we don't like about our favorite politician or do we go further and boycott everyone and every country? France and Germany didn't support us in our war effort. They said some very negative things about our president. I say we should boycott BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes Benz. Or should we limit it to things we can live without, like the Chicks music? Can't live without a fine piece of German Engineering if you ask me.

Case and point; I remember watching the Democrat and Republican Conventions awhile back. I can't tell you how many BMWs, Porches, and Mercedes Benzes I saw pulled into the Convention parking lot. I thought I was watching the $100,000 dollars Car Club Convention. Afterward the press did a camera tour of the Convention through various rooms; on the table there were dozen of bottles of Dom Perrignon. Hundreds of social elites were toasting as they congrat. each other. I'm sure some of the people that boycotted the Chicks music were there.

Folks I hope you realize the silliness of all this. Selective boycotting is counter productive specially on tax paying American citizens. But you know what, it's not too late. I say we boycott anything German or French. JB you and I should spearhead this movement and the rest will follow. I'll take my Roover and you take your ML back to the dealer and tell them we don't want your fine German Engineering around here. Then we break a couple bottles of Perrignon on the ground. In their face. That will show em. :D :D :D

The musick aside, Its the same as the movie stars. They use the fame and notierity (that we the public gave them)to make political points that have no more varicity than what we would say right here on iboats. Some people who are dumb as a box of rocks can sing. Yet the media treats them like God has spoken. Just burns me up. :(

Yes and how about boycotting China after all its a Communist country, most likely would be arrested for being naked in public seems most clothing is made in China. Them Cuban cigars the best cigars made, got to boycott them after all it will put Fidel out of power. The chicks were talking about, hell with them. I cant stand country music so most likely will not be buying.

Re: Dixie Chicks

What pot-shot was that, DJ? Please advise.

I never claimed to be an expert in what the DC's think. They have a right to think what they want, and say what they want. I don't really care, one way or another. I tend to like their music.

I as well don't care what Toby Keith thinks either. I don't like the message he sings about in at least one of his songs (I am not familiar with any others of his) I don't like his music. That is a personal taste in music judgement, not a political one.
