disassembing foot on 81 merc 140 hp outboard

Can someone please send me disassemble instructions for lower unit of 81 merc 140EL. I've got it partially apart but can't get prop shaft out. Removed spanner nut that holds bearing carrier in but can't get carrier out, exhaust flows through carrier and it won't budge, I can see that it has a key and keyway so I know it doesn't unscrew. Thanks for any help!!!
