I have a 1979 Dilly single axle tilt boat trailer. Model # is partly worn off but it appears to be 214-331-4395. It had 530-12(B) tires, has 12-4 rims, a GVWR of 1680 lbs., max. load carrying capacity of 1370 lbs. and 2-leaf springs that are 30" long and 1-3/4" wide, and appear to be the same flat end slipper type as Trailer Parts Superstore's #US-3005. My entire rig, including the trailer, weights between 1400 and 1600 lbs. depending on what motors and gear I am carrying. My questions deal with the springs, which do not appear to be flexing much if at all. I have not tried to jump up and down on the trailer when the boat is off, but would that tell me anything useful when I only weigh 170lbs.? Should I just order new bushings or new springs with bushings on the assumption that the springs are just worn out? The boat (1979 16' Alumacraft Lunker) and trailer have been stored inside for 33 years, and I squirt Liquid Wrench on the springs about every other year, so there is very little rust on the outside of the springs. Any advice I receive will be much appreciated.
