Diesel to flush lower unit gearcase?

Any reason I can't or shouldn't use diesel to "rinse out" the lower unit gearcase to clear it of the "milk" before putting new lube in, after changing shaft seals?

I used kerosene didn't seem to hurt anything. But I reall don't know if you're supposed to.

Either should be OK, just don't run motor in water under load with the flush in the gearcase and drain thoroughly.
