dies when put in gear

Hello boaters, I bought a 1987 mach 1 with an alpha 1 gen 1 v6 three months ago.Had to put a new impeller pump in.Took boat out today and ran great for a few hours. Killed the motor for about an hour.Started her back up but when put in gear with a little gas she dies. Hopfully i didnt srew somthing up.Any suggestions?

You might repost in the I/O forum. Sounds like a carb or accelerator pump problem....

sticking lower shift cable and is probably in need of a new one.when they fail when engaging forward or reverse it causes engine to earth out via shift interrupt switch .will only do this whilst load on prop .ie.in water.will shift ok when out of water.

Thanks guy for the replies. I was thinking it might be a linkage problem.
