I've been using West marine 105 Products for most of my Stringer and Glass work. A few weeks ago I brought a Gallon of JD Total Boat, to save a few bucks and try it out on a different boat project. The Total Boat seem to work great last week. Yesterday I used it to water proof some wood ( that will eventually get glassed over) today is still Wet!!
Its a 5:1 Ratio. I'm Dumfounded yesterdays temp might have reached 70 by 4pm.

You didn't dispense 5 pumps of resin to 1 pump of hardener by any chance, did you?

I was doing a test section of wood, 20 pumps of resin, 5 pumps of hardener.

There's your problem. JD uses calibrated pumps. Even though it's 5:1, it's 1:1 for pumps. You have 15 pumps too few of hardener. I'm afraid it will never harden. Sorry.

What GW said^^^^^

From the Total boat product description:
Pumps are color coded to match the resin or hardener cap for convenience. Mix one full pump of hardener to every one full pump of resin. Our calibrated 5:1 pumps ensure a perfect 5:1 mix ratio every time.

I know the instructions are just the manufacturers opinion... but sometimes it really pays to read them.

Irregardless of you previous results, the MFG states that it was wrong. If you want to ensure that it's right then follow their instructions. 5 pumps to 1 pump is most assuredly going to give improper results. Even if it did get hard the first time it will be a weak chemical mixture and I would not trust it to last very long or be very strong

I have the pumps for the USC 3:1 but one crapped out after a few days, so ive been using marked paint cup from HD and HOK and just pouring from the bottles...old school science class method works great everytime.

So 2 wrongs make a right eh?

I agree with WOG, even if your first batch did get hard, I wouldn't trust it... read your instructions and mix up a batch according to the manufacturers opinion and see how well it works, you may be pleasantly surprised.
