Depth Finder on my 1998 VIP Valiant

Why doesn't it read at speed? If I'm crusing at about 5-10 its fine but anything faster than that it stops reading.

it sounds like its coming out of the water or mis-adjusted.

is it new or old?

where do you have it mounted?

is the angle correct in relation to the bottom of the boat?

Embarrassed? Really?

I have no clue the brand. It came with the boat. I recently purchased this boat a couple of months ago. I'll have to look at it to see the brand I guess.

It's mounted at the rear of the boat along the bottom next to the lower unit.

Post a couple of pics of how your transducer is mounted. Are we talking a digital depth gauge or actual fish/depth finder with graphic display?

This isn't my boat but the depth finder is mounted exactly like this. I guess this is how it is installed from VIP

Still need to know make and model. The pic only shows an unidentifiable transducer.

We need close up of the transducer on your boat, and the make of the electronics unit.

I am looking for pictures of YOUR transducer:

- One pic like the one you did, but even along the hull lines.
- One pic close up from the back.
- One pic close up from the side.

That way we can see what may be wrong with your installation, and suggest adjustments.
