I installed a 1994 mercruiser 3.0 with the delco est ignition in my1987 Chris craft that came with an OMC 3.0 points ignition. I have located the tach wire, but the tach still does not work. when I hooked up my old school tach/dwell meter, it showed the idle was well over 2000 rpm’s. Is there a difference in the tachs signal between the years? Between marine and automotive? I read an article here that I can’t find again that made reference to adding a resister to the line.

as for the interruptor switch, it works, but the adjustment is off. So, I have to fine tune that.

Thanks for any help.

Tach connects to the coil negative post. Same tach will work with points and Delco EST

Switching from points to Delco EST, you have to bypass the resistor wire and feed the ignition system with full battery system
