Re: DEBATE
You see, the difference betweeen you and me, Beaux, is that I prefer honest debate.

If you want to end social security, that's fine with me. That is a perfectly reasonable position to take. However, let's be honest and just say so up front and let the voters decide.

But to just not be in a postion to fund it, and then say "Too bad, so sad--their ain't no money folks!--you should have planned ahead like I did!"

Why that is just darn near dishonest in my view.

Just like when Pres W got up to tout his dividend elimination, and says "It will be good for senior citizens". I really got a kick out of that one. I figured that the average senior on an otherwise fixed income would have to have say $30k of annual dividend income to be seriously affected, and at an average of 2.9% dividend for a dividend paying stock, the seniors we are going to help would have to have a portfolio of dividend paying stock in the 2 to 3 million range.

Yep, those are sure the seniors I am most worried about!

All I ask is you, and your politicians, just be honest is what you are doing, and not spin it as if it is going to help those that it isn't or pull little bait and switch tricks like pretending to favor things like social security while undercutting the funding for it. If they are popular, you ought to be able to sell them on their merits, and not have to spin them on their imaginary merits.
