Thanks for your selfless effort. I'm sure it will mean more those you helped than you will ever know. Only time helped me get by my incident. But I'll share my experience of some 25 years ago. On a holiday weekend a car t-boned a second car at an intersection by my house. We ran out front after the sounds of the crash. One car turned sideways in the road the other on its side in the neighbors front yard. The car on its side contained a family of four. Mom and Dad in the front seat 2 kids in the back seat. Both parents were non responsive. Little boy in the back hanging from his car seat crying, little girl also hanging restrained by her lap belt. She was making sounds but not coherent. A buddy of mine and I pried open the back door. I crawled in the car unfastened the boy and handed him out. Did the same for the young girl. Both were warped in blankets and laid on the ground. we tried to open the woman's door but due to the damage we could not. About that time the first responders arrived. Shortly after they Life Flighted both kids off the scene. When they started to remove the woman I'd already seen more than I cared to and retreated in the the house. Neither parent parent survived the accident and the little girl died at the hospital. Only the little boy survived. The father driving was at fault, no alcohol, or drugs were found in his system, he just missed a stop sign on an unfamiliar road after dark. The few minutes I spent at the accident bothered for some time.
