I hear ya'. First time I've been able to open b-nook blinds in over a month. The glare was impossible to live with. I never thought sorta brown grass would look so beautiful.

Ya'll be careful with all this dead grass talk.............we're going to all be swearing at the grass soon enough cause we're going to have to be out in the heat cutting it. I walked past my mowing machine this afternoon cussing it cause it was sitting on a flat tire. Damn thing is going to cost me money before I even start using it this coming season.

Something to consider is the precipitation you have had all winter could be your last.
It doesn't take much for the pattern to change and its drought time.

Re: Dead grass!!!!!

When it came time to landscape our retirement home, I said "honey, I'm not a gardner and I hate yard work. I like to fish" then went out and purchased Costco grass and installed it. When the snow melts, I spend an hour raking off the pine needles and I'm done for the summer.
I've heard it all from "WHAT?? you have PLASTIC GRASS?" to "That is brilliant. No mower, edger, watering, feeding etc"
Which is how I feel about it. It's always green, rain proof, draught proof and yes, dog proof. When I want to go fishing I just go, knowing my "lawn" is gonna look just fine when I get back.
I even had a local pilot drive up to ask me how the heck I kept my lawn so green! (he flies over all the time). When he saw it, I'm pretty sure he was on his way to Costco. :)
Now if that dang snow would just melt.....the boat is ready!

Bubba, my calculator doesn't have that many decimal places! I have 20 acres but the secret it to declare "the rest of it natural" and just do a little around your house. I let her pick out the cabinets and counters, I got to pick out the landscape. Good trade.

Now you just need to add heaters under the grass so that pesky show melts off in the winter. Seeing green grass during the dead of winter would probably freak out the pilot.

(Probably have another drop-by asking how you keep the grass green ALL year long...)

I don't mind mowing the lawn. A couple years ago I picked up a Honda walk behind that has everything. Electric start, variable hydrostatic transmission and blade clutch. Original price tag was $1100 but I got it in a trade. We are only on 1/3 acre so it goes quick.

Re: Dead grass!!!!!

I cleaned out the pool today. Water temp was about 40 degrees F. if any one wants to try it out, come on over. LOL. I'm actually looking forward to mowing and trimming grass. That 40 minutes a week doesn't seem all that bad this time of year. It was almost 70 today. I actually went out and buffed/waxed part of the boat today. I'm bored and ready for spring. Seems like I'm not the only one considering this is a thread about dead grass.
