Peel the inner skin off?
Replace the rotten wood with a full top to bottom, side to side piece.
Glass it in.

Yea, I know, that is a funny looking piece on the inside... wood isn't top to bottom all the way across. Who says you have to follow the old design?

Without a splashwell, that boat is one of the easier trasoms to replace. I'd agree with the previous response to clear the ineer skin, and install a new transom side-to-side.

Great looking boat. It looks a lot like an Aristocraft.

Re: Dave's rebuild

I can't see the pictures? I just joined this forum am I doing something wrong? I recently bought a boat trailer from a storage lot. Some one abandoned this trailer and boat (1965 Aristocraft 19ft) so I got them both for 99 bucks. The boat has no motor, seats, windshield, or top. The shell seems to be in good shape but needs a decent paint job. Seems like a good project since I picked it up for almost nothing. There doesnt seem to be much info on Google about these boats. I'll post a picture when I figure out how.

Re: Dave's rebuild

A lot of old 60s era boats are coming out of the weeds. I always liked the looks of the curved windshields. I just picked up a 60 Starcraft, and am getting the itch to fix it up. (NO, wait, that itch is from all the fiberglass work i have been doing..). Wife does not have a problem it.... as long as I get the Chris Craft done first.

As for a windshield, check with Taylor. They are making windshields for these boats, and might have one. Do expect to pay some money. Also keep an eye on ebay, you never know what you might find.
