I remember the first time I heard the Stray Cats. I didn't like them them, and still don't. Maybe it was the Greasy Hair, or just their music

Saw Seltzer sans cats in early 2000s @ South Lake Tahoe casino, also had a car show outside. Hardcore rockabilly crowd. Great shows

No one was playing Rockabilly music when he burst the scene in 1981-1982, right out of Massapequa Long Island.

We'll have to agree, to disagree. They revived interest in rockabilly music when it was dormant for many years and turned a whole new generation on to Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran, in addition to Buddy Holley and others. For that alone, they are like Gods to me.
Brian Setzer does a Christmas show here on Long Island that is an epic event.
Rockabilly music and hot rods, nothing better!

Rockabilly and the (Washington) DC club (music) scene in the late 70’s, early 80’s….great stuff.

Robert Gordon, Link Wray, Tex Rubinowitz, Billy Hancock, etc. were all regulars in the local club scene.

Unfortunately, it would be years later that that I learned my dad, who by then was playing in a band with Billy, ran in the same circles as rockabilly royalty back in day

I liked Hot Rod Lincoln, at least by Commander Cody. In the 90s, some Country group did a cover and I thought it was Pathetic. Kind of like Arlo Guthrie's 'City of New Orleans', great song from 72, but Willie Nelson's version wasn't as good

I also like the original Steve Goodman version of City of New Orleans, faster paced than the Arlo Guthrie version.

I'll have to find it and give it a spin

Edit: I listened to it, it is Different. He did write it, so he sang it as he envisioned it. I prefer Arlo's version, maybe because that is version I heard first, over 50 yrs ago.
