Cylinders 2,4,6 no spark

I Now have a new issue, I performed a spark test and found no spark on cylinder's 2,4,6. I switched the red and red/white and the blue blue/white wires on the side pack's. The result is the same, no spark on 2,4,6. Does this relate to a stator ?

Thank You

It sounds more like the switchbox but you ,ll have to test both the stator and the switchbox

Mine was missing 1,3,5 cylinder.Yours are all on port side which sounds like just the switch box.You will probably need a DVA and ohm/ multimeter....oh and a manual of course.

Re: Cylinders 2,4,6 no spark

That is my quest for today after 14 hr's @ work, started the ohm procedure yesterday but got interupted by rain and a call to work. I have switched the wires from one switch box to the other and no change, so to me that eliminates the switchbox correct??

One bank fails is usually either stator or switchbox. If you swapped the stator leads and the bug didn't move, it could be either the switchbox or all 3 coils. It couldn't be the stator because you moved that to the other side and it worked.

If you then swap the switchboxes and the bug moves, it proves the switchbox. Otherwise it'd be all the coils (unlikely). It's easier to check it out with a DVA.

The trigger will usually affect 2 cylinders opposite in timing, ie 1 and 4. That's because they share the same trigger coil.

hope it helps

Thanks John,

I intend to perform the ohm test on the stator leads as shown in the manual once I can get home, I always anticipate your kind comments and suggestions. So far with all that I have had go wrong with this new to me bass boat thats been sitting for far too long I guess I'm not to complain, just make the repairs and carry on. Thank You again Sir'

Ohm's test can be slightly out-of-range yet still test well with the more reliable
DVA load test.

Before you go to all the troubloe of switching the two switchboxes, try the Bias test, disconnect the White Bias wire linking the two boxes, then retest for spark.

If you now have spark on all cyl's the previously 'working' box is defective, the bad Bias is blocking spark on the none sparking box.

This test is well spelled out in CDIElectronics FREE Ignition Troubleshooting Guide.

I have replaced the two switchboxes and the engine fired right up and ran fine on the ground. Went to the ramp the next day and it wouldn't fire. Checked spark at the park and found no spark on 2,4,6,and now 5 cylinders, Please Help ! This is getting very frustrating....

Re: Cylinders 2,4,6 no spark

It's been a week. Did you do any diagnostics or did someone tell you "this is what it was on mine" and purchased 2 used switchboxes?

My best guess is the stator is bad, and you cranked in a bad switchbox to boot. THAT is just a guess.

If you do the diagnostics we can help. Otherwise your banker can help.
